Jerry Whitford Hinesley

Jerry Whitford Hinesley, 72, of Aberdeen, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2017. He passed away at FirstHealth Hospice House surrounded by family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Calvary Memorial Church in Southern Pines with Pastor Charles Garrison officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. and other times at the Hinesley’s home in Aberdeen. Burial will follow the service at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen with Military Honors.

Jerry was born in Moore County on April 27, 1945 to Ted and Josie Hinesley of Carthage, NC. He grew up in the Carthage area and served as a sharpshooter and medic in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1968, primarily in Germany. Jerry and Barbara made their home in Aberdeen. He owned and operated Hinesley Heating and Air Conditioning, which served Moore County for more than 40 years. Jerry received the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior as a young man and faithfully served the Lord as a member of Calvary Memorial Church in Southern Pines, NC for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Hinesley; five children, Pam (Ged) Taylor, Mike (Dawn) Hinesley, Tina Cole, Steve (Jennifer) Hinesley, Dina (Wayne) Smith all of Moore County; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Comer, Maxine Rogers, Suzine (Bobby) Dodd, Carolyn (Joe) Lazzaro, Linda (Richard) Brown, Dale Howell; brother, Billy Ray Hinesley; sisters-in-law, Cookie (Roger) Salisbury, Louise Wheeless; brother-in-law, Ben (Teresa) White and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, and two infant children.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Christian School Scholarship Fund, 400 S. Bennett St, Southern Pines NC 28387.
