Harrison Albert Garner

Harrison Albert Garner, age 73, of Carthage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Pinnix officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.  A private burial will be held at a later date.

Harrison was born in Carthage, North Carolina on May 15, 1944 to Claude and Ethel Morgan Garner.  He spent his working career in the insurance industry.  Some things he enjoyed were visiting yard sales and flea markets, watching James Bond movies and spending time with his family and friends. But he especially enjoyed spending time at his church and serving God.  He was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his very special friend, Gail Lynch of Carthage, children, Elizabeth “Betsy” Markey of Southern Pines, Aaron Garner-Donovan and wife Dawn of California; sisters, Doris Wall and husband Paul of Sanford, Jewell Frye and husband William also of Sanford, Thelma Wilkie and husband Charles of Cameron; brother, Walter Garner and wife Barbara of Virginia; grandchildren, Nova, Tom, Derek and Jack; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Benjamin, Carson, Clark, Sawyer, Lincoln and Griffin; sister-in-laws, Dottie and Margie Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ethel Morgan Garner; sister, Ruth Baker; brothers, William, Raymond, Lacy and Ralph.
