I was a student of Mrs. Morris at Montrose Elementary in South Charleston, WV. She was one of my favorite teachers in school. I still remember when she had use draw pictures on squares of fabrics then at the end of the school year she showed up in a skirt made with those squares! I thought she was awesome for doing that with her students. Rest In Peace sweet lady.

I am so sorry to learn of Hilda's passing. We taught together at Robins Elementary in Charleston, WV for years. Not only was she a terrific teacher she was a good friend. She had such a warm and inviting personality and tended to 'mother ' many of use just like she did her students. She will be remembered with love.

I am so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. My daughter Amanda was lucky enough to have her in the second grade at J. E. Robins. She was an excellent teacher and loved by her students. I was always glad when she asked me to sub for her and more often than not she was going home for a visit to her beloved NC. She often spoke of Kiel who at the time was in college.
Again, I'm sad that she is gone and hope she didn't have to suffer. She was a treasure to those who knew her I know.
Know she was a great grandmother too!
Thinking of all of you.
Much love,
Sally Preston
Didn't mean to leave her husband out!!

Hilda and I were co-teachers at Robins Elementary in Charleston, WV and I am so saddened to learn of her passing. We had such fun times teaching together; the two of us even taught for 3 days at Wheeling College when we were doing Whole Language at our school. Of Hilda, I can say that her heart was huge and it always showed. The last time I spoke with her was more than 7 months ago sadly. I can't think of anyone that didn't come in contact with her ever, didn't leave a much better person because of her. To you Bob, I send my deepest sympathy for the loss of her and to you Tom and Keel, I'm so sorry you've lost your mother and to your children, sorry for the loss of their grandmother. Hilda made the world a much better place wherever she was: I will miss you my friend. Heaven now has another angel. Love and sympathy.

To the Morris Family:

Please know that our hearts are with you at this time of sorrow.

Hilda was a special lady, a lovely conversationalist and I always enjoyed my time with her. She had a great love of all children and made each of them feel special, as if they were her own. How blessed are Kate, Will and Jonah to have had her as a part of their lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. I pray that the happy memories of Mrs. Hilda’s life with all of you, will in time overcome the sadness and pain you feel today.

I'm so sorry to hear of Hilda's passing. We just had a nice visit several weeks ago and it was obvious how proud she was of her grandchildren and how much she enjoyed them. I know we will all miss her sly sense of humor and beautiful smile. Her legacy will live on in the lives of the many school children she influenced during her career in teaching. My sympathies go out to the rest of her family.
