Johnny Simpson

Johnny Carl Simpson, age 69, of Carthage, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his home, with his family by his side.

A graveside service will be held at the home, 130 Jannie Lane, Carthage, NC 28327 on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00.

Johnny was born in Sanford, North Carolina on May 22, 1948 to John Franklin and Ola Mae Simpson.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army with over 20 years of service and was also a Vietnam Veteran. Johnny loved the Lord with all his heart. He shared the gospel with everyone he met. One of his favorite sayings was “God is a great big God!”  He was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, John D. Simpson of Carthage, Cindy A. Childress also of Carthage, Ola Stinnett of Cameron; sisters, Bonnie Denny, Wilma Carter, Maggie Yarborough, Betty Thomas; brother, Lonnie Simpson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Godfrey Simpson; parents, John Franklin and Ola Mae Simpson; sisters, Faye Lindley, Dorothy McKay, Evelyn Brown; brother, J.D. Simpson and Fred Simpson.
