Margaret Mary (Mackey) Corbin

Margaret Mackey Corbin, 97 of Vass, NC died peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024, surrounded by her family.  

She was born October 18, 1926, in Montrose, NY.  Margaret was the daughter of the late Edward Mills Mackey and Mae Carey Mackey.  She graduated from St. Michaels High School in St. Mary’s County, MD and took classes at St. Mary’s College.  She went to work immediately at Patuxent River Navy Base, Lexington Park, MD, working there until she relocated to NC in 1967.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Charles R. Corbin Jr., of the home; children, Linda Corbin Foster (Randy) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; Leo Corbin (Mary Beth) of Greenville, NC; Charles Corbin III (Dieu) of Pinehurst, NC and grandchildren Carey Vaughan Foster and Mae Margaret Corbin. Margaret is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her siblings, Helen, Edward, Charles and Bernie.

Margaret loved people.  Her hobbies included golf, which she played for over 40 years including starting a 9 holes woman’s group, games, especially BINGO and Mexican Train. She also enjoyed reading, knitting and solving puzzles.

The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 10 until 11 at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Vass, NC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Vass, NC

A private interment will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
