Andrew John Boese

Retired Marine Master Sargent Andrew John Boese, age 67, of Sanford, was called up to meet his Savior on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. He passed peacefully surrounded by family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Curtis Norris officiating.The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Jacksonville, N.C on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 with Full Military Honors. 

Sorry to say, but Andy was born a “Northerner” in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Halloween Eve during trick or treat. He made the local paper for being born October 31, 1951, the seventh child of thirteen children. After graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corps at the age of seventeen. He did a tour in Vietnam and from there had a distinguished service travelling around the world several times. His awards included two Navy Commendations for his contributions to the Navy and Marine Corps. Andy retired in North Carolina with his wife Linda, who preceded him in death.

Andy went to Community College in 1989 and earned two degrees in computing with a 4.0 GPA. Yes, he told anyone that would listen that he was smart. He joined Sears in the automotive department and advanced to management. Due to supporting his family, Andy stayed in Jacksonville, NC for twelve years before moving to Raleigh. He retired from Sears Holding Corps after twenty-one years.  Andy was also preceded in death by his mother (Geraldine), father (Norman), brothers Robert, Royal, Bradley and Clifford.

Andy was working for Raleigh TSA but found out he was old. He met his wife Betty at an Italian restaurant. When Betty entered the restaurant, He saw a halo around her head and thought “this is the woman I am to take care of for Jesus.”

Andy is survived by his wife, Betty Buchannan Boese, children; James Lee Boese (Crystal) and Nicholas Charles Boese (Megan), stepchildren; John Joseph Caddle IV (Tonya), David Edward Caddle (Paige), Angela Moore Holder (Myke), James Edward Moore (Sharon) and Shelia Moore Pope (Troy). With all these children, just imagine a family gathering including thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Andy is also survived by his northern family; Richard (Julie), Marvin (Darlene), Roger (Joan), Norman (Julie), Helen (Val), Greg (Anne), Pam (Mark)and Laura.
