Jane Elizabeth Cousins, age 95, of Vass, North Carolina went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 14, 2017, peacefully surrounded by family. What a day of rejoicing that was as Jane reunited with her love of this life, Warren, who passed away after 62 years of marriage in 2011.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at Bible Tabernacle in Southern Pines, N.C. The family will receive visitors an hour before the service at Bible Tabernacle from 4:30 until 5:30. Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 2 p.m in the church cemetery on Rays Bridge Road in Whispering Pines, N.C.

Jane, known to her five granddaughters as "Grandma," was a faithful, Christian woman. She was born July 5,1922, in a home owned by Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan. She and her family lived there until 1937 when Ford then leased the home to the crew of the Hindenburg, who never took residence. Jane met her husband when she took dance lessons under his instruction in Chicago in the 1940s. She strongly believed her purpose in life was to spread the message of Jesus Christ. She lived out that purpose by introducing her husband to God and together they began a church in their home in Westland, Michigan. They moved their family to Vass in 1969 to deepen their relationship with God through the ministry of the Bible Tabernacle.

Jane, a professional beautician, retired from the Penick Home in Southern Pines in 1997. Her passion for cutting hair continued as she often setup a stool in her kitchen and cut the hair of her children and grandchildren. Jane enjoyed watching old Westerns, drawing pictures in greeting cards she sent to her grandchildren, and working crossword puzzles. In 2011 at the death of her husband, Jane moved to Mississippi to live close to her daughter. She prided herself in living 95 years and often quipped "when you get old, everything gets loose," and "growing old is not for wimps!"

Jane is survived by her children, Warren D. Cousins of Fayetteville, David Cousins (Nan) of Huntsville, Ala., and Michele Nesbitt (Richard) of Brandon, Miss.; five granddaughters, Holli Sotak (George) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Christina Shoemaker (David) of Fayetteville, Ark., Jessica Taloney (Justin) of Mobile, Ala., Amelia Greenhall (Adam) of Seattle, Wash. and Allison Lybarger (Danny) of St. Louis, Mo.; and nine great-grandchildren, Devin, Ronin and Axe Sotak, Wyatt and Madeline Shoemaker, Julia and Bryant Taloney, and Knox and Josephine Lybarger.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Bible Tabernacle Church through the website www.midnightcry.org or by mail to Midnight Cry Ministries P.O. Box 685 Southern Pines, N.C. 28388.

Condolences may be sent to www.coxmemorialfuneralhome.com.
