Layton Frank Jones

Layton Frank Jones, age 80, of Vass, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Cox Memorial Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at A New Beginning Assembly of God Church in Vass at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jane Andrews and Pastor Sherry Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Grove Cemetery with Military Honors.

Layton was born in Moore County, North Carolina on May 10, 1939 to Bert and Margaret Jones. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. His strong work ethic and love of his country made him an inspiration to his family, friends and co-workers. Layton loved working outside and was regularly seen out mowing and sprucing up his yard. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Boggs Jones; sons, Scott Douglas Jones (Lisa) of Carthage, Layton Kevin Jones (Shannon) also of Carthage; brothers, Larry Jones (Joyce) of Sanford, Clayton Jones (Barbara) of Bailey; grandchildren, Kaylee, Tyler, Chase and Alyssa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances, Carolyn, Nettie and Agnes and brothers, Robert and B.G. Jones.
