Mary Evelyn Scott, 90, of Carthage, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on January 8, 2019 at First Health Palliative and Hospice House in Pinehurst.
She was born on April 16, 1928, one of eleven children, to George Empie and Hattie Carter Davis of Boardman, NC.
An avid gardener and reader who loved playing bridge with her wonderful friends. She was school secretary at Carthage Elementary for 30 years and enjoyed interacting with students; always making them smile while applying Band-Aids and offering hugs. She was a dedicated and wonderful wife to her now deceased husband and mother to her daughter and son, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Judy Scott Shotwell (Mike) of Vienna, VA, her son, Gerald Clifton Scott of Robbins, her beloved grandchildren, Aimee Blair (Jason), Christy Johnson (Willie), Clay Scott (Ivy) and Cliff Scott as well as seven great grandchildren. She has one surviving sister, Nancy Odham, of Fairbluff.
She will be sorely missed by her entire family and will be welcomed into heaven where God will embrace an incredible angel. There will be a private family service and in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to First Health Palliative and Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A private burial will be held at Cross Hill Cemetery in Carthage at a later date.
