Rebecca Joyce Walters

Rebecca Diggs Walters, age 81, of Carthage, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 6:00 p.m at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrell Garner officiating.  A private burial will be held the following day in Hope Mill, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Rebecca was born in Union County, North Carolina on April 12, 1938 to Dee and Belzora Green Diggs. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter, will never be forgotten. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Patty Beheeler (Eddie) of Carthage and Mike Walters also of Carthage; sister, Sandra Powers of Carthage; brothers, Tommy Diggs of Graham, NC and Earl Diggs of New Mexico; grandchildren, Hillary Walters, Ashley Walters, James Walters and Emma Walters and one great-grandchild, Lexi Pendergraph

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David Walters, Sr.; children, James “Jimmy” David Walters, Jr. and Glen William Walters; sisters, Sue Ivey and Christine Diggs.
