Rheba (Matthews) Morrison

Rheba Matthews Morrison, age 95, of Southern Pines, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2023 at FirstHealth Hospice House, surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 2:00pm at Open Arms Community Church in Vass with Pastor John Brown officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Rheba was born in Carthage, North Carolina on March 26, 1927, to the late Joshua Lawrence and Mary Weeks Matthews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Eugene Morrison, children, Timothy Morrison and Victoria Reid, sisters, Margaret and Lucille, brothers, Herman, Howard and Richard Matthews.

As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. She was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Steven Eugene Morrison (Denise) of Woodlake, Toni Higgins (Howard) of Cedar Point; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Open Arms Community Church in Vass in memory of Rheba Morrison.
