Roy "Gene" Eugene Grant, Jr.

Roy Eugene “Gene” Grant, Jr., age 66, of Vass, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 3:00pm at Open Arms Community Church with Pastor John Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 2 until 3. Burial will following at Johnson Grove Cemetery in Vass. Masks are required.

Gene was born in Scotland County on May 1, 1955 to Gladys Porter Grant and the late Roy Eugene Grant, Sr.  In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Clark and brother, Bill Grant.

Gene worked with Food Lion with over 22 years of service as a Produce Manager. He was an avid fisherman and loved working with wood. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cathy Grant; sons, William Derek Grant and wife Debra of Aberdeen, Chris Grant and wife April of Robbins; mother, Gladys Porter Grant; sisters, Ann, Mary Lou and Jackie Grant; grandchildren, Davaun, Nate, Nick and Ashley.
