Grace Hunter Cameron Helton, age 87, of Sanford, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Brookdale South Park Nursing Home in Charlotte.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at East Sanford Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Gibson and Rev. Bob Yandle officiating. Burial will follow at Barbecue Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 124 Barbecue Church Road in Harnett County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 1:00 until 2:00.
Grace was born in Faison, North Carolina on April 17, 1932 to the late Stanford Reaves and Lucile Coley Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Anderson Cameron, second husband, Leonard Lee “Bo” Helton, son, James A. “Jay” Cameron, Jr., and brother, Hugh David Hunter.
Grace worked with the U.S. Postal Service in Sanford with over 22 years of service. She was a devoted member of East Sanford Baptist Church until her health no longer would allow her to attend. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory Cameron (Karen) of Tennessee, Christopher Cameron (Julie) of Sanford and Kevin Cameron (Christine) of Charlotte; sister, Annette Bush of Brown Summit and Peggy Ritter of California; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
