Gregory Scott Whitaker

Gregory “Scotty” Whitaker, age 52, of Carthage, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with David Cummings officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Scotty was born in Moore County on February 26, 1966 to Ray Stanley and Mary Ring Whitaker. He spent his working career in the construction industry and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Scotty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents, Ray Stanley and Mary “Doodie” Whitaker; children, Melissa Hurlocker and husband, Jeremy of Linwood, NC, Jonathan Whitaker and wife Phelica also of Linwood, NC; sister, Shannon Rae Morton of Cameron; brother, Stanley Whitaker and wife Annie of Carthage; grandchildren, Rylee, Leah and Savannah.
