Helen Faye Brooks

Helen McMillan Brooks, age 79, of Durham, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Gregg Newton officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 3:30 until 4:30.

Helen was born in Sneads, Florida on September 22, 1939 to Lawrence W. and Gertrude McMillan. She devoted her whole life caring for her  family. Helen was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward Wallace Brooks; children, Kim Morris (Troy) of Carthage, Diedra Lanphear (Brad) of Durham; brother, Glenn McMillan (Joanne) of Lexington, NC; grandchildren, Leslie, Brooks, Lindsey, Katelyn and Kealee; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Jada, Journie, Mya, Wyatt, Blaison, Hartlynd, Ethan, Lucas, Victoria and Adan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Edward Wallace Brooks, Jr.; sisters, Lillian Page and Audrey Fulton; brother, Robert McMillan.
