Henry Alton Matthews, III

Henry Alton Matthews, III, age 77 of Florida, formerly of Lakeview, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home in Jacksonville, Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Presbyterian Church, 382 Camp Easter Road, Lakeview NC 28350 with Pastor Julie Hughes officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, US Hwy 1 Lakeview NC 28350, with Military Honors.  The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the church fellowship hall.

Henry was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina on May 22, 1941 to the late Henry Alton and Ruth McInnis Matthews, II.  His first wife, Eunice Warren Matthews passed just days following his death.  Henry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather and will be truly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Watson Matthews of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Cynthia Ann Matthews of Tampa, Florida; sister, Vivian R. Sparks of Pinehurst; grandchildren, Amelia Ruth Ivey Lipscomb and Adam Matthews Lipscomb.
