Betty Shulenberger Snow, 89, of Vass went to be with her Father in Heaven on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, and is now at peace.
A Celebration of Life, with visitation immediately following, will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3 pm at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel of Vass (4888 U.S. Rte 1) with Pastor Dave Kinney officiating.
Betty was born in Charlotte, NC on April 27, 1936, to the late William Arthur Shulenberger and Imogene Moorman.
She attended Emory University, earning an R.N., and later obtained a masters in community education from Appalachian State University. She worked for the Mecklenburg County Health Department for 34 years, retiring as the Health Director, a position which she held for 5 years. As Director, she oversaw more than 400 employees and a budget of almost $15 million.
Betty had a soft heart for animals in need of rescue, providing homes for several horses and her current dog, Libby. She loved riding and then carriage driving horses all through her life, thriving in the local horse community after moving to Vass in 2016. She also enjoyed travel, sports cars, antiques, church activities and gardening in her younger years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Denman Snow, in Nov. 2024, and after 63 years of marriage, she found it difficult to live without him. She is survived by daughter, Jeanie Snow Wilson (Alex), of Winston-Salem, grandchildren, Leah Snow Wilson, of Richmond, Va., and Emory Blane Wilson, of Winston-Salem
