Billy Ray Gray

Billy Ray Gray, age 84, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sanford with Pastor Tony Ward officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 1 until 2. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford.

Billy was born in Angier, North Carolina on October 17, 1937, to the late George Harold Gray and Texie Campbell Gray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Hart, Carol Harmon and Myrtle Hardee, brothers, Bobby Gene Gray and George Gray, Jr.

Billy worked as an auto body repairman most of his life and loved to spend time with his family in the mountains. He was a loving husband father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Brenda Mitchell Gray; daughter, Constance Sue Garrett and husband Irvin of Sanford; sisters, Mary Carter and husband Walter of Garner, Patsy Gray of Benson; grandchildren, Derek Barbour and wife Jamie, Brittany Harper and wife Karen, Charity Turner and friends Tillarie Henry and Tatyana White, Daniel Turner; great-grandchildren, Clayden and Anberlyn.
