Carolyn Fryer Burgan, age 75, of Vass-Woodlake, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, with her family by her side.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Carolyn was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 22, 1944 to the late Edward Vincent Fryer, Jr and Anna Katherine Fryer. In addition, to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, CW4 Elmer Joseph Burgan, U.S. Army (ret.). She traveled the world as an Army wife and built a career in Armed Forces recreation by serving military personnel and their families. She even received a lifetime service award from the Armed Forces Recreation Society. When she retired, she continued to serve others by volunteering in her community. She was always the first to offer a hug or lend a hand. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Elmer Joseph Burgan of Oregon and Heidi Burgan Thomes (Chris) of Virginia; sister, Beverly Fryer Sullivan; brother, Edward Vincent Fryer; grandchildren, Cassidy, Katie, Abbie and Gracie.
