Charles Rodgers Corbin, Jr., age 99, of Woodlake, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst with family by his side.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 12:15PM at Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Vass with Rev. Colette Bachand officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 11:00-12:00PM.
Burial will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 10:00AM at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
Charles was born on December 9, 1924, in Accomack County, Virginia to the late Charles R. and Etta Riggin Corbin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mackey Corbin, sister, Margaret and brothers, Sydney and James.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Corbin Foster (Randy) of Kill Devil Hills; sons, Leo Corbin (Mary Beth) of Greenville and Chip Corbin (Dieu) of Pinehurst; grandchildren, Carey Vaughan Foster and Mae Margaret Corbin.
Charles proudly served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the US Army. During his service, he was the recipient of a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Following his military service, he continued his career working in Civil Service. Throughout his life, his hobbies spanned a variety of interest, racing speed boats, cars, golfing, chess, scouts and photography.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
