David Priest Obituary

Rev. David LeRoy Priest, age 81, of Carthage, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, with his family by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 1:00pm at Sanford Church of God in Sanford with Bishop David Kimbrell and Rev. John Stinnett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 12 until 1. Burial will follow in Cameron Community Cemetery with Military Honors.

David was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 27, 1944, to the late James H. Priest and Opal Mullins Priest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Frye Priest, son, David Lamar Priest, sister, Margaret Rensberger, brother, Rueben Priest.

He is survived by his daughters, Melisa “Missy” Nickens (Tim) of Carthage, Tonya Siege (Jeff) of Missouri; grandchildren, Rebekah (Jacob), Samuel (Jessica), Blake, Sophia, Courtney (Brandon), Brianna (Justin) and Avery (Paige); great-grandchildren, Charlie, Whitton, Sawyer, Caleb, Della, Weston, Asher, Jason, Kayleigh, Raelynn and Brantley; sister, Bonnie Green of Arkansas and many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

David lived a life marked by faith, service, and unwavering love for his family. A proud Vietnam Veteran, he served his country with honors in the U.S. Army, a chapter of his life that shaped the deep sense of duty and resilience that those who knew him come to admire.

Over the years David wore many hats carpenter, minister, police officer and loss prevention specialist, but at his core, he was a man of purpose. Whether building with his hands, preaching the word, or protecting others, he gave his all too every calling.

David loved the Lord with all his heart. His faith was not just a part of his life; it was the foundation of it. His favorite thing to say was “Let God’s Will Be Done.” He poured that same love into his family, especially “his girls” whom he cherished beyond measure. His strength, determination, and servant’s heart were present, and his legacy of devotion and integrity will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

His life was a testimony to what it means to serve others, to stand firm in faith, and to walk proudly as both a soldier and a man of God. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
