David Fred Michael

David Fred Michael, age 92, of Cameron, North Carolina passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

David was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on July 6, 1931 to the late David Clay and Nannie Lewis Michael.  He was also predeceased in death by his wife, Edith Moretz Michael; brothers, Rayburn, Albert, Ferd, Baxter and Lee; sisters, Chloe, Mary, Grace and Deulah.

You could find him reading his favorite book, The Bible, everyday.  He loved Jesus, his family, friends and church and prayed for them faithfully.  He was known as the “Candy Man”, always giving out lollipops at church.  He proudly served in the US Army for twenty-six years.  His favorite hobbies were bluegrass music with the Gospel Echoes and golf with friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Williamson of Cameron, Kathy Comer (Frankie) of Sanford and Pam Cameron (Dennis) of Cameron; grandchildren, Michael Williamson, Jennifer Comer, Crystal Comer, David Cameron (Jenn), Madison Lewis (Mike); great grandchildren, Mark Williamson, James Williamson, Amber Williamson, Tyler Williamson, Josiah Cameron and Ember Cameron.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Cameron Baptist Church with Pastor Jared McNeill and Dr. Wayne Green officiating.  A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM.  Burial will follow in the Cranes Creek Cemetery in Cameron with full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Cameron Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of David Michael.
