David James Reitter

David James Reitter, age 75, of Sanford, North Carolina, formerly of Weirton, West Virginia, passed this life, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.

David was born In Steubenville, Ohio on December 12, 1946, to the late Albert G Reitter and Bernice (Churchman) Reitter.

He was a graduate of Follansbee High School class of 1964. He proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Navy. Dave later worked at Allegheny Power in Weirton, West Virginia, retiring in 2009 to Sanford, North Carolina.

Dave was an avid car buff and enjoyed restoring cars, going to car shows and on cruises with friends. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

He was married to Flora Lee (Whittington) Reitter on June 27, 1970. They were happily married for 52 years. Dave is survived by two children, Michael David Reitter of Sanford, North Carolina and Mindy Lee (Reitter) McLean (Dr. Anthony); three grandchildren of New Hampshire; sister, JoAnn McKinney (Dean) of West Virginia; brothers, Richard Reitter of West Virginia and Greg Reitter (Susan) also of West Virginia; twelve nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Patricia Oiler of West Virginia, Mary Whittington of North Carolina and Carol Riter of North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
