Donald Wayne Bridgers, Sr.

Donald Wayne Bridgers, Sr., age 80, of Vass, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice House, surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lee McKinney officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family burial will follow in Johnson Grove Cemetery.

Donald was born in Fuquay-Varina on April 14, 1938 to Luin Ellis and Louise Bridgers. He spent his working career as a local farmer and also served in the U.S. National Guard. His strong work ethic and love of his country made him an inspiration to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his sons, Donald Bridgers, Jr. of Vass and Rodney Bridgers (Gigi) of Virginia; grandchildren, Morgan Bridgers, Taylor Bridgers and step-grandchildren Taylor Domina and Gabrielle Domina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luin Ellis and Louise Bridgers; wife, Johnsye Cameron Bridgers; sisters, Betty Evans, Doris Nigro, Polly Sawyer,  Mary Priest and Patricia Blue; brother, Warren Bridgers.
