Donald William Sebastian, Sr.

Donald William Sebastian, Sr., age 79 of Whispering Pines, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery.

A Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Vass.

Donald was born in New York on January 1, 1942 to the late Thomas and Elsa Krieg Sebastian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Martin Sebastian and son-in-law, Dennis Key.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper, and enjoyed a career as a Pilot, Skydiver and Aviation Consultant. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy Bienemann Sebastian; daughters, Debbie Key of Vass, Diane Kelly (Kasey) of Southern Pines; son, Donny Sebastian, Jr. of Carthage; sister, Gloria Hertel of Florida; grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda) Bowman, Jordan (Tara) Kelly, David (Deanne) Bowman, Hunter (Jade) Kelly, Summer Kelly, Christiana Kelly, Baylee Sebastian; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
