Forrest Smith Greene

Forrest Greene, age 71, of Lakeview, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Forrest was born in Moore County on March 15, 1949, in the hearts of the late Alton and Alberta Page Greene. He was a Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. After serving his country, he earned a degree in Horticulture but soon after, found his career with Moore County Schools in the Information Technology Department and retired with 33 years of service.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who worked hard and always put his family first. If there was a fund raiser at school, an event or sport in which his boys or his grandchildren participated, he and Wilma were always in attendance and ready to volunteer in whatever needed to be done.

Forrest has been described as “a character with character and true warmth.” His humor and friendly personality brightened the days of many folks with whom he worked and shared his days. He will certainly be missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 51 years, Wilma Jackson Greene; his sons, Brad and wife Cary, Travis and wife Suzanna, both of Whispering Pines; sisters, Bell Arnold of Cameron and Rena Currie of Lexington; brother, Henry Greene of Kerr Lake; grandchildren, Ryan, Chloe and Barrett.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
