Gilbert Aparicio Valdez, age 78, of Pinehurst, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at his home, with his loving wife, Carol, by his side.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father John Forbes and Father Javier Castrejon concelebrating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors.

Gilbert was born in Arizona on July 29, 1943, to the late Jose Gonzalez Valdez and Maria Aparicia Valdez. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Monet Tess Valdez, two sisters and seven brothers.

Gilbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He spent his working career as CEO/President of various companies in the healthcare industry.

During his retirement years, Gilbert was very involved in serving others. He had a special connection to San Juan Diego Mission Church and the homeless veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Skiba Valdez; sisters, Rita Ashby, Vera Valenzuela and Anita Ruiz all of Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 300 Dundee Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374, for benefit of San Juan Diego Mission Church.
