Glenda Fay Ray, age 70, of Barbecue Township, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her children.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Hillmon Grove Baptist Church at 3:00pm with Rev. Wayne O’Quinn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 2 until 3. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Glenda was born in Dunn, North Carolina on November 27, 1953, to the late Neil Duncan Ray and Minnie Mae Ray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Pickard, brother, Carl Ray, niece, Betty Jo Garner, nephew, Carl Ray, Jr.
Glenda graduated for Benhaven High School in 1972, attended Hank Hannah College of Beauty Culture of Sanford, NC, Central Carolina Community College for Computer Aided Drafting and Design. She worked as a hairdresser for 46 years and taught at Central Carolina Community College for 20 years. Glenda was a member of Eastern Star in the 1980’s and served as Martha on the Star Point.
She would like to be remembered for being kind and friendly to others in her daily life as well as sharing Jesus’s salvation. She felt a calling to help those in need and professed her belief in God and received Jesus as her savior when she was 17 years old. She rededicated her life to Christ in 1981 at 28 years old. She was always thankful for family, home, and all that God blessed her with. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Numbers 6:24-26
She leaves behind her daughters, Susan Graham, Sandy Biff Graham of Barbecue Township; sisters, Barbara Garner of Cameron, Yvonne Biggins (John) of Goldsboro, Debbie Smith (Terry) of Vass; nieces and nephews, Robert McLean, Brandi Raines, Michael Biggins, Toscha Tate, Brian Biggins, Jason Smith, Billy Smith; nieces and nephew, Frank Westfall, Darryll Westfall, Donald Westfall and many great-nieces and nephews.
