James Franklin Roberts

James Franklin Roberts, age 86, of Cameron, passed away on May 21, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 1:00pm at Cameron Community Cemetery with Pastor Jared McNeill officiating.

Jim was born in Lee County on March 2, 1936 to the late Herbert Butler and Ellie Jane Roberts. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Rebekah Fields and Hilda Marley, brothers, David and Daniel Roberts.

He spent his working career as a local tobacco farmer and later retiring from the U.S. Postal Service.  Jim served on the ASCS county committee, Farm Bureau board, CO-OP warehouse board of Carthage, founded Cameron Ruritan Club where he served as president and served on the Cameron Fire Department as Chief and also a member.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lila Kay Teague Roberts, daughter, Diane Calhoun (Robert) of Cameron, grandson, James Cheek II (Emma Crews) of Cameron.
