James Smith Obituary

James Allen Smith, age 73, of Cameron, was called home to heaven on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, peacefully at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

James was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 27, 1951, to the late Martin and Ruth Collins Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Smith, sister, Patricia Grimm, brother, Robert Smith.

In 1967, James met the love of his life, Doris, in Cleveland. It was love at first sight. Together, they raised four children and built a life full of adventure, laughter, and love. James was a lifelong traveler thanks to his career as a dedicated truck driver. He had a gift for storytelling and a way of sharing life lessons. He could fix just about anything with his hands and loved nothing more than tinkering in the garage or hiking through the woods. The outdoors was his second home.

James is now at peace, back with Doris, the love of his life. Their beautiful journey together carries on in heaven.

He is survived by his children, Michele Walker (John) of Cameron, Jamie Smith, Sheila Meszaros (Jon), Michael Smith all of Ohio; grandchildren, Chris, Ashley, Britny (Matthew), Daniel (Jade), Samantha, Brock, Ryan, Korey and one great-grandchild, Remi; sisters, Judy Clemmer, Lynn Grimm both of Ohio.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Condolences may be sent to www.coxmemorialfuneralhome.com.
