James "Dean" Godby

James Dean Godby, age 43, of Cameron, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 2. Burial will follow in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Dean was born in Moore County on November 14, 1979, to the late Ronald Dean and Helen “Polly” Godby.

James Dean was a loving brother, nephew, and friend. He had a great heart and loved openly. Loved helping other people.

Our loving brother, you will be missed by your sisters: Sharon, Angela, Joy, Christy, and Missy. You were so special to us and your aunt and uncle, Joyce and David Shumake. Love you so much. Give Big Dean and Polly a hug from us!

James Dean is survived by his four sisters, Sharon Bibey of Vass, NC, Angela Garner (David) of Texas, Joy Lee of Pfafftown, NC, Chris “Christy” King (Michael) of LeGrange, NC, Missy Oxendine (Ed) of Fayetteville, NC; aunts, Joyce Shumake (David) of Cameron, NC, Faye Arrigale and Evey Cantrell (Farley) both of Kentucky, Sherry Ramer of Texas, Darlene Godby of Ohio; uncles, Jimmy Wilson (Patsy) of Greensboro, NC, Don Godby of Texas, TJ Timmy Godby of Indiana; and a host of friends.
