James "Jim" Martin Obituary

James “Jim” Martin, age 84, of Vass, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, with family by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Union Presbyterian Church with Pastor Shane Owens officiating.

A private Graveside Service with Military Honors was held on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Union Presbyterian Church with Pastor Shane Owens officiating. Masks are required.

Jim was born in Manistique, Michigan on July 20, 1937 to the late Abraham Martin and Jennie Manosso Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son James A. Martin, Jr.; his siblings, Joseph, Edna, Lena Mae, Marvin, Maggie, Freddie, Tiny and Joanne; grandson, Jeremy Sohoski.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in the Korea Conflict and Vietnam War and had a successful career in Real Estate. A loving husband, father, brother, papa, great-papa and friend, Jim will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Donna; daughters, Tina Estella (Rafael) and Mechelle Helm (Alvin) both of Texas, Christi Burns (Mike) of Southern Pines, Faith Clark (Kyle) of South Carolina; sons, Alan Sohoski (Mary) of Texas, Robert Martin (Samantha) of Alabama; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
