Kathryn Young- LaSell also known as "Kathy or Kate" to many, has gone to be with her Heavenly Father, her departed mom, Paulina, her departed dad, Thomas, and her departed brothers, Gregory and Terrence, after her surmise to cancer on April 9, 2023.
Kathy had an amazing heart and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
She hated lies, dishonesty, and insincerity because it goes against everything, she believed in.
Kathy carefully guarded her feelings but opened up easily to strangers. She would walk the halls of the Cancer Treatment Center in Newnan, Georgia, getting her treatments, attending her appointments and feeling blessed that she had one more day.
She sometimes acted stronger and more open-minded than she really was. However, once Kathy got close to someone and trusted them, she become much more open and expressive wearing her heart on her sleeve.
Kathy did not work well with stupid people and could be somewhat odd and arrogant at times.
Kathy was a very hard worker and would always finish every task put upon her, even the ones that were boring and unfulfilling.
Including her returning to college to further her education in her mid-thirties and being selected to represent the Rotary Club in an educational, rewarding and fulfilling trip to Australia.
Kathy worked tirelessly in the staffing business for over 20 years in both Tennessee and North Carolina. Many times, forfeiting family time for business issues and crisis. Choices and decisions she regretted to her dying day.
Kathy retired from The American Red Cross in 2017 after four years as a life support and CPR instructor. Teaching how to help others in medical need and how to save lives, a job she always said was her favorite and most fulfilling and rewarding. Kathy hated having to leave her ARC position more than anything saying it was another thing cancer took from her.
Kathy was married to William J. Stetson, of Woodstock, VT, from 1974 to 1991. Having two wonderful children, Aimee and Andrew whom she cherished every day.
Kathy remarried in 1996 to Wayne LaSell. Helping in those many years together to raise two additional wonderful children, stepsons, Kyle and Tristan.
With Wayne retiring in 2020, he and Kathy sold their home in Charlotte, NC and relocated to Florida. Pursuing a full-time RV life and loving it. Her beach front location that she fondly referred to as her "front yard".
Kathy leaves a loving family all of whom will miss her dearly. Her husband of 24 years, Wayne LaSell, Aimee Stetson and her beloved grandchildren Rylie and Lukas, of Monroe, NC. Her son Andrew Stetson and his fiancé, Ethan Floyd, of Southern Pines, NC. Her stepsons, Kyle LaSell and family of Gainesville, GA and Tristan LaSell of Raleigh, NC.
Kathy also leaves her remaining siblings, her brother Tracy Young and family of Mascoma Lake, NH, her sister Pamela Young and husband, Eduardo, of Raleigh, NC and her sister Lisa Young and her son Timothy Malboeuf of Raleigh, NC. Kathy also leaves her niece Aly Young as well as many cousins throughout the US. Kathy is predeceased by her parents. Tom and Pauli Young, and her brothers, Greg and Terry.
Upon Kathy’s requests, there are no calling hours and no services. A Funeral Catholic Mass will be said at a later date. A Celebration of Life on the beach in Carrabelle, FL on "her front yard".

"Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me,
I took His hand when I heard Him
call, I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play,
tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy,
a friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, those things, I too, will miss
be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow,
my life's been full, I savored much,
good friends, good times,
a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free."
