Larry Eugene Cockman

Larry Eugene Cockman, 79, of Carthage, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was the son of the late Charles W. Cockman and Irene P. Cockman of Carthage, NC.  Surviving him are his wife, Jolene Cockman, sisters Jennie C. Phillips of Carthage, Judy C. Wilson of Pinehurst, NC, brother Richard W. Cockman of Raeford, NC, sons Jim Jones, Joey Cockman, Jamison Jones, and daughter Joni Ely.  Also, grandsons Christopher Jones, Dylan Jones, granddaughter Brittany Jones, and great granddaughter Rosalie Jones.

Larry graduated from Carthage High School in 1963 and earned an Associate's Degree from Sandhills Community College.  Larry was in the retail furniture business for many years in Myrtle Beach, SC.  He had a lifelong love of the beach and enjoyed many family get togethers there as well as friendships he made.  After retiring he moved back to Moore County.  He was a skilled woodworker and crafted many custom corn hole boards locally and beyond.  He enjoyed local high school baseball games.  He also had a heart for finding good homes for rescued animals.  He self-published a children book about cats of many colors and the way children and pets blend together in harmony.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
