Larry Edward Hartman

Larry Edward Hartman, Age 75, of Whispering Pines, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Cox Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sam Stout officiating. Burial will be at the family plot located at Roselawn Cemetery, Princeton, West Virginia on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.

Larry was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on June 18, 1946 to the late William Hartman and June Brooks Brewer. He graduated from Bluefield College where he studied Electrical Engineering.  Larry was on the forefront of implementing many technological advances in the telecommunications industry such as the first fiber optic voice and data networks.  He worked with many different companies in multiple states to improve the speed, quality, and availability of digital telecom services to positively impact many people’s lives.  These included Atlantic Bell, GTE, Harris McBurney and Associates, Alltel/Windstream, and most recently as Project Manager for Mid-South Engineering Consultants in Charlotte. 

Larry was a devoted husband, father, and friend known for his selflessness and dry wit.  He cherished his wife, stewarded his sons to adulthood and success, and adored his grandchildren.  After entering semi-retirement he looked forward to frequent trips to eastern North Carolina to relax with his wife in their RV, traveling to Indiana to visit with his grandchildren, and discussing current events with his sons. Larry knew about the Lord his entire life, and in his later years finally realized he needed a more personal relationship and enjoyed pursuing that relationship and sharing Jesus with others by example and word.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Osborne.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jennifer Hartman; sons, Brian Edward Hartman of Indiana and Seth Eric Hartman of North Carolina; sister, Deborah Hartman of Ohio; grandchildren, Owen, Adam, Ethan and Sara.
