Lawrence Hurst, Jr.

Lawrence F. Hurst, Jr, age 72, of Aberdeen, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Larry was born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 24, 1948 to the late Lawrence F. Sr., and Paige West Hurst.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he earned the National Defense Service with Combat Award, the Secretary of Naval Defense Achievement Medal with Combat and a Purple Heart. He was very dedicated to the VFW #7318 in Southern Pines. He was a very hard working General Manager over Whispering Pines Golf Course and was also General Manager over Pinehurst Country Club where many people loved and respected him. Everyone who knew Larry recognized him as a very generous man who never met a stranger. He will be sorely missed by many people.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Debra Branch Hurst and his brother Chesley Wise and wife Carol.
