Leon Wayne Patterson, Sr.

Leon Wayne Patterson, Sr, age 73 of Carthage, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Pinelake Health & Rehab.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Upper Room UPC at 7:00pm, 115 N 7th Street, Sanford NC, with Rev. Dennis Patterson officiating.

Leon was born in Sanford, North Carolina on April 14, 1953 to the late Dock Milton Patterson and Sarah Dinkins Patterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Leon Patterson, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Patterson; children, Sara Hayes and Richard Patterson; grandchildren, Reece Cox, Riley Cox, Ellie Thomas, Daryk Patterson, Nevaeh-Elise Patterson, Aaron Patterson; sisters, Gracie Ellis, Sylvia Simpson (Steve); brothers, Rev. Dennis Patterson (Sue), Claude Patterson (Alice).

He was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.
