Linda Polk Obituary

Linda Kay Blue Polk: daughter, sister, mother, grandma, friend, and Carolina Panther fan.

Linda was born October 20, 1948, and passed away September 9, 202,2 in Bowling Green, KY with family by her side.

Born at Fort Brag, NC to Sargent Major James and Laverne (Matthews) Blue, she was the youngest of 3 sisters. Judy Harmon, her oldest sister, passed away on June 7th, 2007, and the middle sister passed away at her birth on March 1, 1946. She is survived by her son, Larry Polk, his wife, Jenna Polk, and grandsons, Corban Polk and Zane Polk. She loved and doted on these boys and would do anything for them.

Linda spent the majority of her life in NC. After marrying the boy next door and then giving birth to her son, Linda went back to college and got a business degree that allowed her to work for IRS for 40+ years. She worked her way up through the ranks, eventually becoming an agent that specialized in tracking dirty money and testifying in court as an expert witness. The IRS was good to Linda: she was very good at her job, it took her many places around the US, and she really enjoyed what she did. However, the best part of her job was the friends she made there in her office. They were her best friends, and she loved them deeply. They traveled and had fun together. As her son, I am so thankful for them and their love for her.

One of the biggest surprises about Linda is that she was a HUGE Carolina Panther football fan. She was an original PSL owner and never missed a game. If she was out of town, she made special arrangements to get back in time for the home game. If it was raining, she brought a jacket, but she wasn’t missing it. She was faithful- always there and always listening to the radio broadcast on her earphones. And if it was an away game, don’t bother calling her during the game, she wasn’t answering the phone. She loved her Panthers. This will be the first Panther season she will have missed.

In the fall of 2017, she was diagnosed with dementia and moved to Bowling Green, KY in 2019 to be closer to her son and his family.

Her mind is now healed, and she has received her reward for a life well-lived. She loved deeply, gave generously, and will be truly missed by her family and friends.

Love you mom.
