Lon L. Cooke

Lon L. Cooke, age 94, of Mooresville, formerly of Whispering Pines, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Genesis Health and Rehab Center in Mooresville, NC, surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Eureka Presbyterian Church, 2185 Farm Life School Road, Carthage, NC. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.

Lon was born in Richlands, Virginia on June 18, 1925, to the late Harrison and Rachel Keen Cook.  He was a graduate of Richlands High School, attended Emory and Henry and graduated Roanoke Business College. He met Frances Mae Witherspoon and they were married on June 20, 1950. Lon proudly served his country in United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and will certainly be missed.

He is survived by his children, Donna Mallory (Steve), Lonna Kosnoski both of Mooresville, NC, Lon Matthew Cooke (Carolyn) of Parkersburg, WV; brother, R.A. Cooke (Betty) of Richlands, VA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Mae Witherspoon Cooke; sisters, Beulah Cooke, Genoa Johnson, Viola Hughes, Gladys Bandy; brothers, John Cooke, Paul Winston (Dickie) Cooke.
