Marcene Joan (Smith) Emerson

Marcene Joan Smith Emerson, age 82, of Woodlake, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Marcene was born in Miami, Florida on October 16, 1943, a daughter of the late Archie and Dorothy Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill Emerson; two daughters, Sheri Campbell of Greer, South Carolina and Heidi Deal of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandsons, Robbie Rardin of Columbus, North Carolina and Cash Deal of Chandler, Arizona and her brother, Edmond Smith of Spring Hill, Florida.

Marcene was an avid tennis player and began her love for the sport playing on her High School team in Miami.  Along with her love for tennis, she had a passion for horses.  This passion led her to be a volunteer at Prancing Horse, a center for therapeutic horseback riding for those individuals with special needs.  She had a creative spirit and an outgoing personality and could carry on a conversation with just about anyone and often welcomed the opportunity.  She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

There will be a small family service held at their church on May 9, 2026.
