Marie Maxine (Kennedy) Cole

Marie Maxine Kennedy Cole, age 84, of Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Vass.

Marie was born on September 1, 1941 in Pinehurst, NC to the late William Baxter and Lenore Rose Hoyt Kennedy.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Kennedy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Johnny Cole; daughters, Teresa “Terrie” Perham (Burton) of Oxford, Georgia, Robin Oxendine (Chuck) of Vass and Lisa Marie Baker of Carthage; sister, Mary Bailey of Carthage; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, “Memaw”, sister and friend.  There was no greater joy in her life than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they loved their “Memaw”.  She was a talented seamstress and worked for many years in the textile industry. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
