Marvin McKinney Obituary

 

Marvin Leland McKinney, age 83, of Cameron, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at New Covenant Fellowship Church with Pastor Lee McKinney, Pastor Glenn Stancik and Pastor Jared McNeill officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. and at other times at the home of Marvin.  Burial will follow at Cameron Community Cemetery. The service will also be streamed live.

Marvin was born in Moore County on August 21, 1938 to the late Raymond and Flossie McKinney. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Mack McKinney

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Faye Atkins McKinney; son, Pastor Lee McKinney (Nita) of Cameron; daughter, Kim Barber (Jimmy) of Cameron; sisters, Gail McKinney Fitzgerald of Florida and Bea McKinney Nelson (Melvin) of Cary; brother, Waylon McKinney of Cameron; grandchildren, Cameron Barber (Linda), Cassie Frye (Zane), Amber McKinney and Jessi von Hardenberg (Paul); great-grandchildren, Miles and Riley and many nieces and nephews.

The family was blessed to have a real life hero as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Marvin heroically met life’s challenges with courage, patience and resolve. He was a can do person who found a way when there seemed to be no way. His smile and positive attitude will live on in the hearts and lives of everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed but his life will go on as a legacy because of the blessing of our real life hero.
