Mary Vee (Rollins) Whitaker

Mary Vee Rollins Whitaker, age 82, of Vass, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at her home.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Johnson Grove Cemetery with Pastor Bill Davis officiating.

Mary was born in Moore County on October 1, 1939, to the late Dwight Moody Rollins and Maggie Stephenson Rollins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Hervey Whitaker, sons, Danny Lynn Whitaker and Douglas Dwayne Whitaker, brother, Crawford Rollins.

Mary took delight in gardening, cooking, canning and visiting the beach. She enjoyed dining out and shopping. Granny was adored by her family and friends. Her passion for sewing was an art. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ann Fowler of Vass, Denise Whitaker Morton and husband David also of Vass; brother, Roy Milton Rollins; grandchildren, Andy Whitaker, Randy Whitaker, Aundrea Hopkins, Krista Simons; nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
