Mitchell Allen Owens

Mitchell “Mitch” Owens, age 56, of Cameron, North Carolina passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mitch was born in Newton, New Jersey on October 10, 1966 to the late Jack and Mildred Owens.  He was also preceded in death by his half-brother, Sonny Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Owens; daughter, Erica Owens of Southport and step-daughter Shalynn Miller (Mona) of Illinois; sisters, Debbie Roll (Dennis) of West Virginia; Janette Thompson of Pennsylvania and Kathleen Owens-Reilly (Bryan) of New Jersey; brothers, Mike Owens (Marlene) of New Jersey, Richard Owens (Shannon) of Cameron and Wayne Owens of Supply; half-brother, Bucky Owens of Virginia; grandchildren, Dustin, Brennan & Bella; step-grandchildren, Natasha and Spencer.

Mitch owned and operated MTO Transport in Cameron. He enjoyed spending time in the MTO Shop tinkering on vehicles.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Mitch was known for his quiet sense of humor and calm demeanor while being an avid protector of those he loved.  Mitch spoiled his dogs and had a big heart, but most importantly, he was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Papa and Brother.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00PM at Cox Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Jared McNeill officiating.  Immediately following the service, Mitch will make his last transport in a Truckers Last Ride Last Call processional which will end at Cameron Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 593 Carthage Street, where the family invites you for a time of visitation and a meal from Valenti’s.
