Nellie Lou (Hammonds) Rorie

Nellie Lou Rorie, age 74, of Vass, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Teddy Rabon and Pastor Gregg Newton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00. Burial will follow at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nellie was born in South Carolina on June 24, 1947 to the late Manning Johnny and Nannie Dale Hammonds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William L. Johnson, son, Theodore Johnson sister, Joyce Annette Small and brother, Johnny Hammonds.

She loved life and was always smiling and happy. Nellie was soft-spoken and was always a source of inspiration. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Rorie; children, William “Billy” Johnson and wife Bonnie of Vass, Laura Ann Gwyn and husband Danny of Virginia and Teresa L. Black and husband Larry of Carthage; grandchildren, Terry, Joseph, Brittney, Bridget, Allison and Brandon “Blue”; great-grandchildren, Abby, Isabel, Jordan and Bentley and fur baby, Dixie.
