Norma Jean (Wood) Whitt

Norma Jean Wood Whitt, age 90, of Cameron, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Pineywood Baptist Church at 2:00PM with Pastor Jimmy Calhoun and Pastor Brad Marona officiating.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00PM to 2:00PM.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Norma was born in Randolph County on April 22, 1935 to the late Elmer Harrison and Exie Evans Wood.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Whitt; sons, Richard Lynn Whitt, Ronald Franklin Whitt; sister, Millie Elizabeth Wood and brother, Charles Wood.

She is survived by her son, Michael Gene Whitt of Cameron; sister, Mary Wood Gilmore of Sanford; grandchildren, Jane Wilcox, Rhonda Kangas (Brian), Teresa Hearn (James); great-grandchildren, Wesley Andrew Whitt, Lauren Wilcox and Rebecca Kangas.

Norma loved the Lord and was a lifetime member of Pineywood Baptist Church.  She loved her flowers and animals, but most of all, she loved her family.  She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
