Patricia Betty Downs, age 96, of Pinehurst, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022, at FirstHealth Reid Heart Center, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born in New Jersey on January 16, 1926, to the late John Gonska and Annie Melnick Gonska. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Downs, Sr.
She spent her working career in the banking industry. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Robert D. Downs, Jr. and wife Dawn of North Carolina, Thomas Downs and wife Liliana of New Jersey, Richard Downs and wife Dawn of Virginia; grandchildren, Jason Applegate of North Carolina, Ann Downs of California, Robin Shorten and husband Caleb of New Jersey, Aaron Downs of New York; great-grandchild, Solomon Shorten of New Jersey; pets, RudyToo and Sydney.
Services will be private.
