Paul Hartness Carter

Paul Hartness Carter, age 82, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday November 9, 2024, at UNC Hospice House in Pittsboro, North Carolina

Paul was born on June 28, 1942, in Lee County to the late Jack and Gertie Gillis Carter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Bercini Carter, infant son, Dennis Marion Carter, and brother, J.C. Carter.

Paul retired from the textile industry after 44 years as a Service Technician. In his retirement, he loved driving for local car dealerships as an Auto Transporter.  The greatest thrill of Paul’s life was spending time with his six grandchildren, with a close second being his fanaticism for Duke University Athletics and NASCAR.

He is survived by his son, Paul David (Karen) Carter; daughter, Dee Carter Taylor (Will Yarborough); grandchildren, Jordan, Madison, Jackson Carter, Scott (Holly), Shane, and Maxx Taylor; brother, Donnie (Sandra) Carter; sisters, Janice Holder and Wilma Truelove.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 2:00pm at Grace Chapel Church Cemetery with Pastor Krysha Jamis officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service and other time at the home.
