Sarah Mae (Morris) Holt

Sarah Morris Holt, age 97, of Siler City formerly of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Genesis Healthcare Center in Siler City.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11am at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Sarah was born in Sanford, North Carolina on March 4, 1927, to the late Joe Morris and Janie Black Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Gerold Thomas, sister, Pauline, brothers, James, Neil, Jessie, Leland, Carl, J.D., and Jewel.

She was an author of genealogy, murders and legends of Central North Carolina. She was the owner and operator of Green Gables Motel, Rudy’s Grill also known as Price’s Grill. Sarah was an avid bingo player. She would play Friday nights at the American Legion and Saturday nights at Kendall Family Bingo. She never met a stranger and was always helping people. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her children, Vivian Black of Greensboro, Gail Hickman (Bryan Case) of Kinston, Rudy Thomas of Sanford; grandchildren, Jennifer Brower, Jessica Thomas, Natalie Black and six great-grandchildren.
