Vera Cathleen (Doby) Pope

Vera Cathleen Doby Pope, age 90, of Carthage passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday evening, January 11, 2024 from 6-8pm at the home of Dwayne and Kay Ledbetter, 436 Apricot Lane in Carthage.  A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00am at the Yates Thagard Baptist Church Cemetery on Niagara-Carthage Road in Whispering Pines with Pastor Eugene Ussery officiating.

Vera was born in Danville, Virginia on June 12, 1933 to the late Carl and Emma Holder Doby.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Pope and six brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Ronny (Cheryl) Pope of Carthage; daughter, Kay Ledbetter (Dwayne) of Carthage; grandchildren, Tracy (Jerry) Troyer of Southern Pines, Tammy (Russell) Jackson of Vass, Melissa Pope of Carthage; great-grandchildren, Megan Jackson, Alex Troyer, Lily Cox, Paitlyn Harward and Kelsey Rakers; great-great grandchildren, Jaxon, Avory and Levi; sister, Mabel Horne.

Vera was a very loving Mother and Grandmother.  Her greatest pride and joy was her family.  She was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
